History 1 It was on September 2, 1716, that Benjamin Franklin had found me.As Franklin had told me later that the day he found me was the day his schooling ended. The reason being that franklin s dad Josiah wanted Benjamin to attend school with the clergy, but only had enough money to send him to school for two years. He attended Boston Latin school but did not graduate. Franklin worked as a typewriter in a print shop in London. He returned to Philadelphia in 1726 with the help of Thomas Denham, a merchant who employed Franklin as clerk, shopkeeper, and bookkeeper in his business. When Franklin was 21 he created the Junto, the Junto was a discussion group for issues of the day; it subsequently gave rise to many organizations in Philadelphia. In the junto reading was a great pastime, but books we re rare and expensive so the member created a library assembled from their own books.Franklin conceived the idea of a subscription library, which would pool the funds of the members to buy books for all to read. This was the birth of the Library Company of Philadelphia. I believed that Franklin would find success in writing. It was in 1733 that Franklin had published Poor Richard s Almanac. You might have heard some famous quotes like â€Å" a penny saved, is a penny earned†. I m the one who inspired franklin into writing this quote. This book was mainly known for the bits of wisdom in it. In 1741 Franklin began publishing The General Magazine and Historical Chronicle for all the British Plantations in America, the first such monthly magazine of this type published in America.
